23 July 2009 - Bloom Show: An Artist's Retreat
Visual artist and garden designer Dawn Aston's Show Garden was awarded silver at Bloom, Phoenix Park, Dublin, June 2009. Ridgeway was involved in supplying material for the garden which was intented to encourage people to explore their own creativity and the link between art and the natural world.
Dawn Aston's art, mosaics & painting, as well as those of children from the Larne Museum's Kids Art and History club were the main features in the garden, along with artwork by Co Kildare willow artist Paul Finch.
Acheson and Glover provided the hard landscaping products, such as the walling system and Rimini range of paving.
Ridgeway contributed to the garden's creation by supplying gabions in various sizes. These were utilised for seating, a platform, and as a large container for a specimen Acer palmatum 'Garnet'.
Filled with white marble cobbles & multi cobbles from N Emersons, Lurgan, these gabions attracted a lot of attention from the public & other landscape contractors. Dawn very much appreciates the help & support from Ridgeway, and the gabions' diverse range of usage contributed to the creative qualities of the garden.
Coming from N. Ireland herself Dawn was proud to be able to showcase so many successful N.Ireland companies and wishes to express her thanks to all involved.
