About Kyowa Filter Unit

Developed initially by leading Japanese firm Kyowa as an anti scour filter for the marine environment the Filter Unit unit is one of the most innovative and versatile products Ridgeway carry. It has applications in submarie cable protection and seabed levelling and consolidation, as well as in emergency flood protection and river and coastal engineering projects.

Kyowa Filter Unit are large nets ready to be filled with rocks, stones or rubble using a cassion. They are specially designed for use in aquatic environments. The supplied net is manufactured from synthetic mesh (some of which is made from recycled plastic bottles) and the client places this inside a cassion to be filled. The mesh is highly durable and complex whilst retaining its flexible structure.

The range includes units suitable for marine, river, and coastal environments. Some examples of applications include: scour protection when placed under concrete blocks in a harbour wall, construction of a temporary road to facilitate building works in a river setting, and protection of submarine cables running between wind turbines on offshore wind farms.
