Kyowa Filter Unit are used to provide effective protection of threatened shoreline and coastal areas. They can be installed as a temporary measure as in the case of flood defences, or for permanent stabilisation projects.

Technical Information

 

Kyowa Filter Unit are large corrosion-resistant nets manufactured from highly durable synthetic mesh, which Ridgeway can supply ready filled for delivery to your site. For more information on this and to learn about the filling process click here.

 

In beach and coastal environments the black S type is usually used which has a durablity to ultra violet light exposure of 30 years. it is manufactured using a nylon double mesh and has been designed to withstand the impact of strong current flow.

 

It is available in 2-8 ton sizes. The porous structure creates a natural habitat for the regrowth of coastal vegetation, allowing the units to blend harmoniously with their surroundings.

The only cautionary note is that Kyowa Filter Unit should not be installed in areas where there is significant regular wave impact, but they are suitable for sections of the shoreline which are not directly impacted by waves.

 

Similary when used in sheltered areas, in slightly deep water, or under concrete blocks this problem does not arise.
