Kyowa Filter Unit are used for scour prevention at the foot of piers, bridges, jetties, harbours, offshore platforms, and other built structures in marine environments. The highly versatile units allow stable water flow which helps prevent the occurence of suction, as well as providing protection against strong currents, so preventing erosion.

 

Kyowa Filter Unit can be installed directly onto uneven surfaces, and are often used to consolidate and level uneven seabed surfaces.

 

They are highly versatile and have a number of other applications in offshore engineering such as submarine cable and pipeline protection. In addition they have a number of applications in civil engineering.

Kyowa Filter Unit are large corrosion-resistant nets manufactured from highly durable synthetic mesh, which Ridgeway can supply ready filled for delivery to your site. For more information on this and to learn about the filling process click here.

 

The S Type is suitable for use in marine environments - it is manufactured using a nylon double mesh and has been designed to withstand the impact of strong current flow. It is available in 2-8 ton sizes. Porous construction creates a natural habitat for small fish and other marine species. This characteristic also prevents the suction that can occur where solid units are employed in an area with strong currents. The construction of textile mesh filled with small rocks allows for a smaller load compared to the use of concrete or rip-rap materials.

The flexible construction of Kyowa Filter Unit means that they can easily be installed on uneven surfaces. Installation can be carried out without the use of divers using the auto-release hook. Multiple Filter Unit can be installed simultaneously by use of a jig.
