River Bank Retention
Kyowa Filter Unit are protection units suitable for installation on river banks where stabilisation or protection is required. They can be successfully installed on uneven, slanted surfaces and integrate perfectly in watercourse environments.
Kyowa Filter Unit can be used for temporary measures where a collapse has occured or is imminent, or for longer term civil engineering projects.
Applications
Kyowa Filter Unit have numerous proven applications in the prevention of erosion and subsidence of river banks and inland watercourses, both for temporary defences and long term stabilisation projects.
These sturdy protection units can be installed to prevent an imminent collapse, to provide effective flood defences, or to repair damaged river banks after a collapse has occured.
Kyowa Filter Unit are also used to build temporary dykes or roads to facilitate construction works in river environments.
They are used for stabilisation in dams, and shore preservation in lakes. In addition they have a number of applications in marine engineering. They can be used with traditional gabions.

Technical Information
Kyowa Filter Unit are large corrosion-resistant nets manufactured from highly durable synthetic mesh, which Ridgeway can supply ready filled for delivery to your site. For more information on this and to learn about the filling process click here.
With their flexible structure Kyowa Filter Unit can easily be installed on uneven surfaces making them an ideal choice for river bank applications. There are three methods of installation commonly used in this type of setting: vertical piling, overlapping, or as in the images to the right placing flat.
At riverworks, the EcoGreen type is usually used. It is available in 2 or 4 ton sizes and has a durabiilty to ultra violet light exposure of 30 years. It is manufactured in double net form, is moss green in colour, and is made from polyester fibre using recycled plastic bottles.
