Company History
Since Ridgeway was founded in 1969 we have always taken
a proactive approach, seeing the potential benefits of innovative
products and techniques from around the world,
and developing and promoting them in the local construction,
engineering and agricultural markets.
Moving with the Times
In 1969 Ridgeway Plant Company Ltd acquired its name from
their first location at Ridgeway Street, beside the Lyric Theatre
in Belfast. In 1972 the company transferred to Diamond
Gardens in Finaghy, then in 1987 on to a prime purpose built
site in Boucher Road, which at that time was the centre
hub for transport links to all areas of the province. During
this time the company also created depot locations in
Chelmsford, UK and Dublin, Ireland. Improvements in the
local transport infrastructure and a new developing Belfast
offered Ridgeway the chance to relocate to superb ‘drive
through’ style premises on Airport Road West in 2004. These
progressive moves represent the steady, sustainable growth
that Ridgeway have shown for over 37 years ensuring
that the best facilities, location and service are available
for their customers.
From Generation to Generation
Maurice Kane, a co-founder of the business has made a
significant contribution to the construction and engineering
industry in Northern Ireland over the years. His entrepreneurial
skill in identifying opportunities to improve construction
processes, safety and security has driven Ridgeway to
the forefront of specialist supply.
Since 1994 the business seamlessly steps into the next
generation as Maurice’s son, Stephen Kane brings new complimentary
sales and marketing strengths to the business,
learnt from working with large multiples in a UK based PLC.
This unique teamwork of father - son directorship combined
with excellent dedicated and experienced staff are integral
to the success of the business and to its sustained future.

Focus The company’s history has been built around its ability to provide quality service
and distribution of a wide range of niche products and tools, available for hire
and sale to the Agricultural, Construction and Engineering industries. Ridgeway
prides itself as a market developer and innovator in Access Equipment, Specialist
Building Products, Metal Mesh Products and Paint Spraying Equipment, with
expert teams focused on these areas.

Centre of Excellence Our specialist Tool and Access Hire operation boasts the privileged status
of Centre of Excellence for Upright Alloy Tower Systems, offering one of the
largest hire fleets of aluminium access equipment in Ireland. Ridgeway have
received international recognition as a Graco Gold Distributor for expertise in
paint spraying, pumping equipment, and supply and fluid transfer solutions. We
pioneered temporary fencing in Ireland under the Ridgefence name and were
the first to introduce cantilevered roof edge protection systems.

Best Value Providing true best value is the core focus of Ridgeway’s strategy. Our belief
that the lowest lifetime cost of a product or service is not linked directly to the
cheapest cost ensures that we constantly appraise suppliers and customers.
Education on best value as the lowest life cost is imperative, so Ridgeway
provide approved CPD seminars and training courses to architects, specifiers,
contractors and sub contractors involved in the construction cycle.
